It might be the first day of November, but it’s still fall – there’s still time to complete you fall bucket list! Fall is my favorite season, and each year I find that it doesn’t quite feel like fall if I don’t do anything “fallish.” I’ve put together my favorite fall activities, and where you can find them locally. Get out there and enjoy the season!
1 . Pick Apples
My favorite place to pick fresh apples is Justus Orchard in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Justus is a family owned farm, with plenty of activities, and the best apples! You can pick your own apples, or choose from a great selection of already picked produce. Whatever you do, make SURE you buy a dozen of their famous apple cider donuts before you go home!
2 . Corn Maze
If you feel like reliving your childhood memories with an activity that is just as fun for adults, head to Clinton Sease Farm in Lexington, South Carolina for one of the state’s most famous corn mazes. Every year, the farmer cuts a different design into his field that will keep you coming back each year!
3 . Burn Fall Candles
Do I even have to list this one?! Every year I wait and wait until it’s “acceptable” to begin burning fall scented candles. Bath and Body Works and their sister store, White Barn are my go to’s for the best smelling fall candles!
4. Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway
If you can only do one item on this list – make it this one. If you’re anywhere near the South East, make an effort to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway. This scenic drive takes you all around the mountains of Virginia and North Carolina – but don’t worry, there are smaller stretches .. you don’t have to drive the entire thing. The cover photo of this post is the Blue Ridge Parkway in late October, and it is an absolute MUST see – at least once in your life. If you’re interested in planning a trip, this is your best resource for all things Blue Ridge Parkway!
5 . Visit a Pumpkin Patch
Knock #1 and #5 off your list at once! If you’re already heading to Justus Orchard to pick apples, make sure you visit their pumpkin patch while you’re there! The pumpkin patch is open for visitors, however you are not able to pick your own. You can choose from a large selection of great pre-picked pumpkins from the farm!
6 . State Fair
The South Carolina State Fair has already come and gone, but I always make it a priority to get there one night while it’s in town. Even if you just stay for a bit to eat dinner or watch the shows, agriculture, or rides – it doesn’t feel like fall without the State Fair!
7 . Apple Cider Mimosas
This one is a must, and completely self explanatory. If you, like myself, are a mimosa gal – you have to try this fall twist on the classic drink! You won’t be disappointed, I promise! Click here for the recipe.
8 . Bake Pumpkin Bread
While you’re already in the kitchen , try your hand at home made pumpkin bread! Not only is it super yummy, it’s a great way to spend time with your mom, grandmother, sister, or anyone else who wants to help! You can find an awesome recipe here!
9 . College Football
This one is a no brainer. I try to make it up to God’s Country at least once during the last half of the Clemson football season to watch the Tigers play in Death Valley. Even if you can’t physically make it to a college football game, nothing is more “fall” than a relaxing Saturday afternoon curled up with a blanket and your favorite team! Oh, and maybe one of those Apple Cider Mimosas I mentioned earlier. 😉
10 . Carve Pumpkins
Make sure you make the most of the pumpkins you picked up from Justus Orchard! A quick Google or Pinterest search will bring up thousands of fun pumpkin carving templates. Make sure to save the seeds, and turn them into a delicious fall treat!
