DIY Molasses & Peppermint Horse Treats

Y’all know I love a good DIY – and these horse treats are about as easy as they come. Minimal ingredients, quick cooking time, and the horses go NUTS for them. You can make these with or without the peppermint. I always do a mix of both when I make these!

Ingredients :

  • two cups molasses
  • five cups uncooked oatmeal
  • three cups flour
  • one cup water
  • two tbs coconut oil
  • classic peppermints ( bulk pack I buy )
  • mini muffin pan or silicon molds
    • If you purchase the molds above and use the mini muffin mold, this recipe will make 48 treats! That is the exact mold I use in this post.

I told you guys this was easy … simply preheat your oven to 350 degrees, mix all your ingredients together, (excluding the peppermints – those go on in the end) put your dough into the molds, and bake for 8-12 minutes!

If you’re adding peppermints, take the treats out of the oven a few minutes before completion, push one peppermint down into the top of each treat, and put back in oven for remaining minutes. If you put the peppermints on at the beginning, they will melt – and make a huge mess.

That’s it! Bone apple tea!! Your horse is sure to enjoy these sweet treats, but they’re just that – high in sugar, so feed in small amounts!
